Democratic control by owners is the backbone of the cooperative principles which guide and govern our co-op.

On the ballot: 2019 Bylaw Amendment
The Keweenaw Cooperatives auditor has recommended, based on the last audit performed, that an annual financial review would be adequate and far more cost effective for the Co-op than an annual audit. They stated that internal controls and financial reporting are strong and being done properly. A financial review consists of performing inquiry and analytical procedures that provide a reasonable basis for expressing limited assurance that there are no material modifications that should be made to the financial statements in order for them to be in conformity with generally accepted accounting principles. The Board of Directors of the Keweenaw Cooperative recommends a "Yes vote on the proposed Bylaws amendment.

On the ballot: Board of Directors Election
This year there are six (6) candidates running for four (4) seats on our nine-member Board. There are three (3) 3-year terms and one (1) 2-year term open. As a member-owned cooperative, our Board of Directors is our elected representation. Our Board acts on behalf of the Owners to ensure the Co-op produces benefit and value. On the ballot: Bring-a-Bag Election
This year there are three (3) candidates running for two (2) recipient slots for our 20192020 Bring-a-Bag Campaign cycle. The Bring-a-Bag Campaign is one way The Co-op gives back to the community and promotes the conservation of natural resources. Every time a shopper brings their own reusable shopping bag or basket instead of using a new paper bag provided by the Co-op, the campaign fund is credited for each bag saved. The savings in the campaign fund are donated every six months to a local organization or project selected by the Co-op Owners. Two recipients are selected every year.
