Modern rose wines trace its origins to Provence, France, where Greek traders introduced wine-making around 600 BCE. By the 14th century, drinking Provencal Rose was a sign of the elite nobility. The well-loved wine found its way to the United States in the 1940s. It didn't take long for Americans to catch on, as the first homegrown rose wine was released in 1975.
Rose wines pair well both with summer meals and hors d'oeuvres, finding a sublime balance, not only between the color of red and white, but also of the flavors. Take an opportunity to try something new and beautiful in observance of National Rose Wine Day.
