S.K.Y. Simple Kindness for Youth

SKY's mission is to help young people build and maintain their self-esteem by providing means to access basic needs, enable them to feel accepted by their peers and provide access to educational activities and community participation. The organization is supported by donations from supporters and fundraising efforts. Grants are provided to a student in need upon the request of their teacher or other professional child advocates. The process is handled with complete confidentiality of the student and the requestor, i.e. teacher or social worker, facilitates the procuring of item or cost of program/tuition fee. Some items we have been able to provide students of Houghton, Keweenaw and Baraga Counties are winter coats, boots, clothing, Chromebooks (for at-home learning), band instrument rental fee, summer enrichment classes, extracurricular activities, senior pictures and drivers education to name a few.
